Château de Pierrefonds is probably one of the most beautiful castles in France, yet it remains far less well known than famous Loire Valley castles such as Château de Chenonceau or Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire. The village of Pierrefonds itself is equally charming, with a beautiful lake, peaceful scenery, and plenty of spots for a picnic with friends or family. In my opinion, Pierrefonds is one of the best and most unique day trips you can take from Paris.

Parc Astérix is one of the most fun day trips from Paris and is often considered better suited for adults than Disneyland Paris. Inspired by the famous French Astérix and Obélix comic books, the park features more than 50 attractions for both children and adults. I found it really cool that park is themed with all the different adventures Astérix and Obélix encounter in the comic books. To be honest, Château de Rambouillet is one of the most beautiful castles I have ever seen in France. The castle used to be a former royal residence and it is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a vast forest. I personally find visiting this castle to be a perfect day trip from Paris since it is not very crowded and its only about one hour away from the French capital.

Château de Fontainebleau is a historic royal residence located near Paris.The castle combines medieval, Renaissance, and classical architectural styles, which reflect the different periods of expansion over time. The castle is just as magnificent as Versailles and, in my opinion, it is one of the best day trips you can do from Paris.
