Château de Rambouillet
To be honest, Château de Rambouillet is one of the most beautiful castles I have ever seen in France. The castle used to be a former royal residence and it is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a vast forest. I personally find visiting this castle to be a perfect day trip from Paris since it is not very crowded and its only about one hour away from the French capital.

How to go to Rambouillet castle from Paris
From Paris Montparnasse station, take a Transilien N train to Rambouillet. The ride takes about 50 minutes and you'll then have to walk about 10 - 20 minutes to get to the castle
If you have an unlimited Navigo pass, you won’t have to pay anything extra for transportation. If you don’t, you’ll need to buy two train tickets for a total of around 6€ round trip.
What to do in Rambouillet castle
I'm personally not super fan of visiting castle interiors, so in my opinion it is something that you can skip if it does not interest you much. The castle grounds are really big, with beautiful gardens and a surrounding forest is perfect for cycling or long peaceful walks. There is also a big lake in front of the castle and you will see several statues here and there.

The thing to do there in my opinion is go for a peaceful walk, admire the scenery and have a picnic.

Try visiting the castle in spring or summer, when you'll be able to see the flowers in bloom.
I hope you have found this guide useful!
