Lille, France
Located near the Belgian border, Lille is a French city that combines French culture with strong Flemish influences. These influences can be seen in its architecture, cuisine, and atmosphere. The city is known for its beautiful historic center, with colorful buildings, lively squares, and a unique character that sets it apart from many other French cities. Lille is a relatively small city that can easily be visited in a single day and it is relatively close to Paris, this is why I believe it to be perfect as a day trip.
How to go from Paris to Lille and back
You can very easily go from Paris to Lille by train or by bus and it is very affordable. Buses tend to be cheaper and if you book a bit in advance, you can easily pay less than 30€ for the round trip. Here you can compare different itineraries.
The bus ride from Paris usually takes about 3 hours. What I would suggest is leaving early, around 8–9 a.m., and returning at around 5–6 p.m. This gives you plenty of time to walk around and visit the city's most important landmarks.
What to do in Lille
I wouldn’t say there are many specific attractions to visit per se, but simply walking around the area surrounding the main square, you will come across many beautiful buildings.

One of the places most people recommend is the Vieille Bourse, which has now become an antiques and book market. The building is absolutely beautiful from the outside, and in the center of the courtyard, you'll find a weird-looking mirrored sphere that adds a modern touch to the place.

I would recommend you visit Grand'Place, which is the main square of the city. What I really enjoy about Lille is it's flemish architecture that is so different from everything you might see elsewhere in France.

I would also suggest you walk around the Chambre de Commerce
